Effect and application of elastic parts of Flexible Coupling

Flexible Couplings

Two 90-degree screw holes are machined on the outer circle of the Flexible Coupling, and the positioning screw fixes the coupling to the shaft through these two holes, which is a relatively common fixing method. Since the front end of the screw contacts the shaft center, the shaft center may be damaged or difficult to remove. Tighten the screw position and cut the joint on the Flexible Coupling. The flexible coupling method is easy to install and disassemble without damaging the shaft center, which is a very common fixing method. For high torque transmission requirements, in order to prevent axial sliding, coupling installation and positioning are usually used in combination with set screws and fastening screws.

Because elasticity has the function of cushioning and vibration reduction, it is often used in situations with strong vibration. The performance temperature of the elastomer determines the service temperature of the coupling, which is generally – 35 ℃ – 80 ℃. Once the elastic spacer is damaged or fails, the torque transmission will not be interrupted. At the same time, the metal claws of the two shaft sleeves mesh together to continue to transmit the torque, which is likely to cause problems in the system. Different hardness and temperature bearing forces, select appropriate materials to meet the performance standards of practical applications, and apply to the working occasions with frequent starting, positive and reverse rotation, medium and high speed, medium torque and high reliability requirements.

Flexible Coupling

The elastomer itself has the function of protecting the machine when the machine is running. When the machine is running and its torque reaches the range that the Flexible Coupling cannot bear, the elastomer will first appear a problem to prompt, greatly reducing the phenomenon of machine damage. The Flexible Coupling works stably and reliably, and has good damping, cushioning and electrical insulation performance. During installation, wipe the dust on the surface of the mounting shaft, apply a thin layer of oil or lubricant, clean the inner hole of the coupling, apply oil or lubricant, and insert the coupling into the mounting shaft.

The Flexible Coupling has simple structure, small radial size, light weight and small moment of inertia, and is suitable for medium and high speed situations. The Flexible Coupling contains the elastic compound of preloaded rubber, which can provide additional strength, extend the service life, and accommodate all types of deviations. The hub is made of high-strength aluminum alloy, which is light and corrosion resistant. The bearing load will also increase, but in most cases, it can effectively protect the bearing. Increasing the size means increasing the ability to bear eccentricity. The parallel groove type takes into account that the cutting groove is shortened without weakening the ability to bear the correction deviation. The short cutting groove can enhance the torque rigidity of the coupling and overlap it.
